- Recognizes human IL1-beta
- Interleukin-1 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine with multiple biological effects
- IL-1 gene family encodes IL-1α, IL1-beta, IL-1RN
- IL1-beta produced by blood monocytes and tissue macrophages
- Implicated in mediating both acute and chronic inflammation

Process:
- Antibody specific for IL1-beta pre-coated onto microwells
- IL1-beta protein in samples captured by the coated antibody after incubation
- After extensive washing, another antibody specific for IL1-beta is added to detect captured IL1-beta protein
- For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent
- Solution containing sulfuric acid used to stop color development and color intensity
- Proportional to quantity of bound protein, measurable at 450 nm with correction wavelength set at 630 nm
