Invitrogen™ Total Antioxidant Capacity (T-AOC) Colorimetric Assay Kit (FRAP method)
Description
The Total Antioxidant Capacity (T-AOC) Colorimetric Assay Kit (FRAP method) is a highly reliable and sensitive assay designed for the quantitative measurement of T-AOC in serum, plasma, tissues, cells, cell culture supernatant, saliva, and urine sample types. T-AOC refers to the overall ability of a biological sample to counteract oxidative stress by neutralizing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and other harmful free radicals. It represents the cumulative effect of both enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants present in the sample.
The assay quantifies the ability of the sample to reduce ferric ions (Fe3+) to ferrous ions (Fe2+) using the ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) method under acidic conditions. T-AOC can be measured using the absorbance value of the resulting blue solution at 593 nm.
